Situation
While immersing myself in the realm of hip-hop music, I noticed that there was a lack of a tool that would allow the creation of personalized mixtapes featuring favorite tracks from a single artist. Many music enthusiasts hold a deep affection for collecting CD albums of their favorite artists, yet many unique tracks never made it to official releases. In the midst of this uncharted territory in the music world, an idea was born. I wanted to create a mobile application that would not only fill this gap but also enable fans to craft their own musical narratives.
Task
The primary mission was to develop a mobile application that enables users to craft personalized music mixtapes, showcasing songs from a single artist. This audio journey would encompass the following features:
- The ability to create and manage custom mixtapes by selecting favorite tracks from the chosen artist's repertoire.
- Limiting the duration of mixtapes to a maximum of 80 minutes, emulating the standard CD format for a unique and compact listening experience.
- The option to choose personalized album covers, adding a personal touch to mixtapes.
- An intuitive system for ordering CDs with the tracks featured on the mixtapes.
- The possibility to customize album covers, giving them an individual appearance.
Actions
- Project and Planning: I began with an in-depth analysis of needs and vision, then proceeded to create a visual interface that facilitated intuitive song exploration and selection. Each mixtape was assigned to the user's account, making collection management effortless.
- UI interaction design: I delved into the mobile application design process, allowing users to freely browse their favorite artist's song library, choose tracks, and have the system check if their mixtape adhered to the 80-minute limit. I also added a customization option, allowing users to create their own album covers.
- Integration with Ordering Services: I expanded the application with an ordering system, enabling users to place orders for physical CD copies of their mixtapes in just a few steps. A seamless payment and delivery process was a crucial part of this stage.
- Testing and Refinement: I went through numerous rounds of testing, aiming for stability and intuitive functionality. I ensured that user feedback played a central role in our continuous improvement efforts.

My Mixtape Creation App project transformed the dreams of music enthusiasts into reality. Now, everyone can easily and joyfully compose their unique mixtapes, control their length, and select individual album covers. For those who desire a tangible form of their creativity, the option to order their custom CD albums is available. The application remains indisputable proof that dreams can be transformed into sounds.
